The Tribal Divine

The greatest temptation in religion is to believe that God belongs to our tribe alone. This tribalism transforms the universal into the partisan, the sacred into the weapon.

Israel's claim to special divine relationship must not become a claim that others are therefore less human, less deserving of land and life.
